MANIFESTO

We are women who love stories…

We love stories that make us think and feel deeply. And while we crave stories that hold up a mirror to human nature, we are weary of grimdark television. We want to celebrate stories that are both clear eyed about life but also hope that we can do better. As life long fangirls, we yearn to move beyond fandom gatekeeping, cynical critique, or being told that we are not watching a show for the right reasons. We want to lift up stories that find beauty in human connection and freely share all the reasons why we love them.

So we are creating our own space…

Streaming Banshees is a place where anyone who loves television is welcome. It is a space for in depth analysis, squeals, and everything in between. We hope it will be your tv book club on the internet. Here, there is no wrong way to love a story. We welcome you to join us as we analyze plot and themes, deep dive into the tiniest of onscreen clues, debate character motivations and moral dilemmas, rave over our favorite romances and friendships, and promise not hold back from being intellectual beings who also have feelings. This is a project crafted out of our love for television and the desire to share that love with others.

Beep & CC spent two years producing The Word of the Witnesses & Behind the Splinters podcast about the science fiction show 12 Monkeys. We dove deep into the themes, character arcs, and writing with a rewatch lens to fully appreciate the craft of storytelling. Now, we want to continue talking about more television stories that move us.

As the pandemic enters its third year, we begin 2022 by celebrating stories about empathy, mental health, and kindness. Season 1 will cover Netflix’s Hometown Cha Cha Cha and Apple’s Ted Lasso, two shows that have brought us joy and hope.

Your Hosts

CC is a Gen X recovering lawyer and full time wrangler of three children, a dog, and three cats based in Washington, DC. From science fiction to fantasy to historical drama, CC loves to escape to other worlds through story. In particular, CC is a fan of stories that hold up a mirror to human nature but inspire us to try to do better. She is a proud fangirl at heart and loves to talk and write about television like she was still an English major back in college. When she runs out of people in real life to talk to about stories, she ends up on Twitter or recording podcasts still talking about … you guessed it, television. Follow CC on Twitter
